All coaches are required to renew their licence every three years.
Level 2/Level 1 Coach
Applications for renewal should be submitted to the Chairperson of their area panel. The renewal is presented to a renewal panel. This panel is chaired by a county coach or above and consists of the chairman and three coaches of at least level 2 grade.
County Coach
Applications for renewal should be submitted to the RCO (Education). The renewal is presented to a renewal panel. This panel is chaired by one of the RCO's and consists of the chairman and three county coaches, one from each of the three Scottish areas.
Senior coaches
Applications for renewal must be sent to the National coach renewal panel.
All Grades
- Prior to renewal all coaches must have:
- Completed a CRBS check in the previous six month
- Attended a Sport Scotland Child Protection course
The panel will consider the application on the following factors
- Continues coaching at an appropriate level.
- Commitment to professional development
- Satisfactory Disclosure Scotland return
- Attendance at a recognised child protection course
The panel may
- Recommend renewal
- Conditionally recommend renewal for coaches who may need assistance.
- Recommend Re-assessment
- Refuse to recommend renewal.
The decision of the panel will be notified to to the coach and forwarded to the GNAS National Coaching Organiser.
The coach has the right of appeal.
On notification of renewal the coach must submit the original of their disclosure certificate to the GNAS office who will return it.
Do not send the disclosure certificate to the renewal panel.
