1. Find your local newspaper - it probably comes through your door every week. They are always interested in people who can fill their pages.
2. Do some research on how to write. Here is an example of a short book on how to write for the internet.
3. Work out why you want to do this. Are you promoting an event? Are you looking to thank people who have donated money?
4. Assemble some digital photographs and make captions for them. Choose the one you want to use for your article, but keep the rest in reserve. Here is a selection for illustration (we don't make any claims to these being brilliant photos!).
5. When putting together your article, think tadpole - get all of the meat into the head of the article. Here is an article to go with Elayne's photo with the purpose of getting people to attend a fund raiser.
Penicuik Archers hold Barbeque to send club members to India
On Saturday 4th August, Pencuik Archers will be holding a barbeque and come-and-try from 5-8pm at the local sports ground for all members of the family. Tickets will be £5 for adults (£2 for children, £10 for family) to include food and a session of archery. You can pay on the day or get in advance from <someone>.
Several members of this successful local archery clubs are competing for places on the team that will go to the Commonwealth Archery Championships in India in November. These include Elayne McLean, who is currently ranked second in Scotland, and Area Champion Susan Maitland. They are both looking forward to travelling to Jamshedpur this November to compete against archers from all over the Commonwealth.
