Commonwealth Archery Championship, India

Update received 10th August

 

Dear Archery Friends,

Hi!

Our President Dr. Vijay Kumar Malhotra has already sent you all an invitation letter in connection with the holding of the 2nd Commonwealth Archery Championship at Jamshedpur, India from 7th to 11th Nov'06.

Archery Association of India has taken the initiative of introducing the Archery event in the Commonwealth Games in 2010 at New Delhi. AAI is looking forward to your support in making this event a success.

Due to the 3rd Asian Circuit Archery Championship at Myanmar finishing on 6th Nov'06 there is a slight change in schedule. The tournament has been rescheduled from 8th to 11th Nov'06.
Arrival date - 7th Nov'06
Tournament - 8th -11th Nov'06
Departure Date - 11th evening/12th Nov'06

The tournament schedule will be sent in due course of time by our Technical Chairman & Sr. Vice President Mr. Paresh Mukherjee who is also the AAF Council member.

Meanwhile as suggested by him there is no qualification criteria and all Commonwealth Countries are free to participate in both Recurve & Compound Division. It is on the same lines as the Asian and World Championship.

Archery Association of India is providing free boarding & lodging from the 7th to 11th Nov'06.

Some of the tournament details are :
Venue - JRD Tata Sports Complex
Accommodation - TATA STEEL's Guest House located one kilometre from the venue. It is three star accommodation with Continental food.
Weather - Max ~ 18 Degree F, Min ~ 10-12 Degree F
Wind - Normal wind @ 5 kmph
Tournament Schedule - Double 70Mts Qualification followed by Olympic Round
Division - Both Recurve & Compound( Men & Women)
Airport : Kolkata is the nearest International Airport.
        The other alternatives are : Home Country - New Delhi- Kolkata
                                           Home Country - New Delhi - Ranchi
                Kolkata is 4 hours drive from jamshedpur and Ranchi is 2 hours drive from Jamshedpur.

You will appreciate that while organising a competition logistics is  a major concern. Hence to make your stay comfortable and hassle free we request you to kindly send a line in confirmation regarding your team's participation. Details about the team may be sent later on.
