Scottish Archery Awards

All GNAS and FITA awards can be shot for at SAA shoots which have the approriate record status. Look for the status symbol on our shoot calendars. As well as the National and International awards the SAA has its own Thistle Fita badges and the Penicuik Clubs also has its own Penny Awards, both for Target Archery.

SAA Thistle Badges

Thistle badge

The Scottish Archery Association SAA introduced the Thistle badges for target archery to give to give an award to archers shooting a "Thistle Status" Fita or Metric appropriate to their age groups. The tournament must be run in accordance with GNAS/FITA rules and for Scottish Record Status dress regulations must be in accordance with GNAS rules. The minimum level of judge required is Regional.

The Thistle award is an enameled badge in the shape of a stylised thistle. The Juniors' badges have a white crown, the Seniors' badges have a blue crown. Awards are available 1000, 1100, 1200 and 1300.

Why a Thistle? The Thistle is a well recognised emblem of Scotland.

Penicuk Archery Club Penny Awards

The Penicuik Archery Club introduced their Penny Awards for target archery in 2005 to be awarded at the Penicuik Fita shoot run in June each year. You can collect the badges in any order and can get more than one of the same colour if you want, as long as you shoot a valid score, i.e. only one badge per tournament. The awards start at 950. The Penicuik Club run several tournaments each year including one of the GNAS Premier events for the SAA.

Bannockburn Bowmen Spider Awards

bannockburn spider badgesThe Bannockburn Archery Club have Spider Awards for the Indoor Rounds of the Portsmouth, Fita18m, Vegas and Worcester shot at the Indoor competitions they organise.

The badge colours range from green to purple and are for all bow types - full details of all the score levels for the Spider Badges can be found on the Banockburn website

Scottish Records

A Scottish Record can be claimed for a score that is at least 1 point highter than the existing Scottish Record and shot at any event that has Scottish Record Status or higher. See the Records Section for a list of all the current records and how to claim. Your records will be listed on the SAA website and you will recieve a certificate. Records are currently maintained for Target, Clout and Flight archery.
