At Scottish Archery, we always strive to make each event better than the last, and this year's National Indoor Championship weekend certainly lived up to that goal. These events wouldn't be possible without the support of our dedicated volunteers, so we want to start by expressing our sincere thanks to them. A special thank you to East Kilbride Archers for their invaluable help with setting up, taking down, loading and unloading vans, assisting with cake and coffee, and managing registration. Your hard work keeps everything running smoothly.
Thanks to James and Alison Ross for coordinating the volunteers, Alisdair Renwick for assisting Curtis with the results, Fiona Acamovic for her ongoing support with event operations, Curtis for handling the results, and Malcolm for managing equipment while still managing to compete! This year, we also appreciate the West Archers for allowing us to use their PDAs and PA system, enabling live scoring. To the archers who helped with set-up and take-down – you know who you are – thank you so much!Â

We were also pleased to welcome Megan, a candidate judge from the East to this year's event. I hope you enjoyed your experience and thank you for dedicating your skills to the judging role. Best of luck on your journey! A big thank you to our ever friendly and approachable judges: Andrew, Mike, and Cameron.Â
Additionally, Callum Hooper joined us on Sunday to record videos and conduct interviews, which we eagerly look forward to sharing his content. On Saturday, we were honoured to have Joani Reid, MP, as our special guest, who took time out of her busy day to present prizes to the junior archers. We deeply appreciate her time and support. The Scottish Archery board members were also on hand to chat with members and discuss all things archery.Â
Lastly, a huge thank you to all the archers who participated – without you, there would be no event!Â

The hall was buzzing with excitement this year, particularly with the 32 Novice archers participating. It's always a challenge for those new to the sport to take part in Scotland’s largest event, but you all did great! A special shout-out to Carin Bergdhal from Lethen Archers, who broke her own 50+ Barebow Scottish record by an impressive 11 points. Thank you again to Joani Reid for presenting the medals and Championship Trophies.Â

This year, we introduced some changes to the Disability category by implementing a more structured approach, now following Archery GB classifications with an 'unclassified' category for archers who don’t fit within these classifications. We were excited to welcome our very first visually impaired archer to the competition – Phillip Tranter, who travelled all the way from Sheffield to participate. Well done, Phillip, and we hope this experience encourages other visually impaired archers to join us next year! The slight decrease in Masters numbers may have been due to the increase in Disability participants.Â

Thank you to James Ross, Director of Systems for Scottish Archery, for presenting the awards. James shared his reflections from the weekend:Â
"The Scottish Archery Championships at the weekend was an excellent shoot. I had a great time catching up with my fellow archers, and shooting all 4 sessions. It was great to see so many archers taking part in all categories and seeing the event grow year on year.Â
A huge thank you to Joani Reid for coming along on the Saturday to have a chat and learn a little bit about Archery in Scotland. As well as to give out some of the awards for the morning session.Â
Also a big thanks to my fellow club members of East Kilbride Archery Club as well as other volunteers from other clubs who help on Friday night to set up. Thank you to the judges for the weekend without our fantastic judges no competitions would be able to run.Â
And finally a massive thank you to Malcolm, Curtis and most of all Fiona for running the event!"Â

Longbow archers, you truly made your presence felt this year! What a fantastic turnout! It was wonderful to see both Barebow and Longbow competitions so well represented, with plenty of camaraderie and great discussions about equipment. It was also great to see friends traveling up from south of the border (shout-out to the Ledwicks!). A special mention goes to Thomas and Kim, who had a memorable moment before the event when Thomas proposed to Kim at Loch Lomond. Though not directly related to archery, it was such a heartwarming gesture!Â
Thank you to John Nicholson, Chair of the Scottish Archery Board, for presenting the awards.

It was great to see an increase in participation this year, which meant we had to add an extra boss! The atmosphere during the final event of the weekend was both focused and relaxed, and it was great to see so many new faces joining in.Â
Thank you to Ainsley Ward, Director of Communications for Scottish Archery, for presenting the awards.Â
On behalf of Scottish Archery, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone for your ongoing support of our events. We look forward to seeing you all at the Scottish Tour this summer. Happy shooting!Â
