Ten new coaches qualified in North of Scotland

21 Nov 2025

Well done to the ten coaches from the North of Scotland who completed their Coach Presentations on Saturday to become qualified Archery GB Level 1 Session Coaches.

Archery GB’s Level 1 Session Coach course prepares learners to deliver engaging sessions for beginners. You’ll learn how to design and deliver a beginner’s course, the most popular way for archery clubs to welcome new members, and gain a recognised qualification which makes you stand out from people doing informal coaching and instructing.

Bill Mackay, one of the Coach Developers reflected on the day:

‘‘Great day all round at The Shed in Montrose with Joshua Phillips being the key holder. All the session coaches worked very well together under the guidance from Rod and Iain.

The day was split into several steps allowing everyone to be involved and working together. Observation went well giving everyone a leadership role. Thanks to all who attended and now have an additional 10 Level 1 Session Coaches in Scotland.’’

Thanks to the Coach Developer team who have supported the coaches on their journey.  This includes Bill Mackay, Iain Wilson, Duncan McEwan and Rod Smith.  Also thanks to key holder Joshua Phillips and Links Archers for hosting the course and to the SAA Northern Area for support with organising the course.

In regards to future courses, we have a couple of courses starting in January:

  • AGB Level 1 Session Coach course (East of Scotland)
