2026 Home Nations Cup - Indoor Team Announcement

The selection process for this year's Home Nations Cup - Indoors, being held during National Indoor Weekend at the NAEC in Stoneleigh, concluded on Monday 21 ^st September and, following review by the selection panel, we are proud to announce the Scotland team that will represent us against Wales, Northern Ireland and an England Wildcat team. The squad, sponsored by BB7, JustGo and CGI will proudly don their Unicorn shirts for the contest on Friday 4 ^th December from 3pm onwards, with Team matches streamed live on YouTube from about 7pm.

The selection process this year was highly competitive, with strong representation from our University clubs. A number of first-time caps have won places in the team with our Open Barebow full of fresh faces. With the selection process ending significantly earlier in previous years due to the early entry date for NIC set by Archery GB, a number of archers applied for selection without having gained the requisite three WA18 scores. While valid reasons were supplied by all, and the selection panel was broadly sympathetic, those with incomplete entries have not gained a place in the Scotland Team.

A conversation with Archery GB regarding the difficulties that this early date has created for Home Nations archers will take place early in New Year, with the outcome feeding into next year's selection policy.

Scotland Team Manager, Ainsley Ward, said, " The alterations that we've had to make to our process due to circumstances beyond our control have not been easy on archers, and we recognise that we need to push for changes in how the Home Nations entries currently work. Despite this, we've managed to put together a great group of archers and will be strong contenders come December with one eye on what we need to put together for 2030."

As part of increased transparency on selection, the table below shows all of the applicants and their average score across those submitted. Two archers returning from injury have been included in the squad for ongoing development purposes as outlined in the policy, but will not be eligible for team honours (RFI).

The majority of incomplete submissions were from archers without the requisite three WA18 scores. There will be another chance to gain a place in the Scotland Team in the Summer as we put together a representative for the Home Nations Cup - Outdoors, which will be hosted by Northern Ireland on 14th/15th August 2027.

Prospective archers are advised that this process will be based on submitting three WA 70/50 (720) scores accumulated during 2027 with a likely closing date in early July. Archers are reminded that submitting an incomplete application without following the exceptions process in the policy will not be viewed favourably.
