The outdoor season can be seen a gruelling schedule for archers with many back-to-back competitions on every weekend. This was evident with AGB National Tour Stage 3 last weekend and Stage 4 UK Masters at the weekend there, however these opportunities are special and inspiring to everyone involved making it all worthwhile.
As ever, top athletes from across UK came together to battle to become champions and add to national tour rankings. Of course, this is a great platform for many archers to test themselves, attempt to execute learning and progress from the training field and compete against world class level archers – not something you get to do very often!
Some very impressive results and well done to all the competitors:
Recurve Men
Joshua Phillips (Links Archers) – 7th (1268) in Qualification and ranked 6th overall – great performances from Joshua with a nail-biting match against double Olympian Patrick Huston in quarter finals on head-to-heads!

Ross MacLeod (Balbardie Archers) –  39th (1136) in Qualification and ranked 30th overall

Ainsley Ward, Scottish National Team Manager who was in attendance shared his reflections:
‘‘Given that the UK Masters is primarily open only to archers with Master Bowman qualifications, the size of the Scottish contingent is mightily impressive. The usual Lilleshall wind presented a challenging qualification, during which many of our archers bought their A-game and finished strongly.
Despite dealing with temperatures over 30C there were some great scores logged and some impressive performances. Sunday’s H2H repechage competition was a cooler and calmer weatherwise, but not on the line, where Scottish archers all pushed their competitors hard across the field. Josh’s match with Patrick Huston had us on the edge of our (folding) seats and was the highlight of a great weekend!’’
