Staffing and Board Update

28 Mar 2024

We are delighted to announce that we have been able to retain Fiona Hirst as lead for the Events programme. Fiona has been a volunteer on the Tournament Organisers Group for many years now, and made the difficult decision to step down due to the increase in commitments of the role as the programme has grown. We have recognised that this is a key area of the business, and that it's vital to have someone in this role with the knowledge and experience to continue driving forward the event planning and delivery. We have committed funding to support this key area of the business, and Fiona will return as Events Coordinator. The initial contract will be for 3 months and then the role will be advertised thereafter.

As you may know Head of Pathways, Alan Martin, will be leaving post for pastures new on Friday 29th March. We will be reviewing staff remits over the forthcoming weeks to ensure the structure best meets the needs of the organisation. We will look to advertise any new roles thereafter and will update members once we have more information to share. In the meantime priority areas will be covered by existing staff members. If you have any queries, please contact Lyndsay Noon, CEO, lyndsay.noon@scottisharchery.org.uk We would like to take this opportunity to wish Alan all the best in his new role.

In board news Shabaz Khan has stepped down from the Board of Directors due to increased work commitments. Shabaz has been on the Board for over two years and has supported key programmes during his time, as well as advising on best practice in his capacity as Independent Director. We would like to say a huge thank you to Shabaz for the time he has dedicated to archery. Recruitment is now open for a new Safeguarding Director to fill the position. VACANCIES | Scottish Archery

There are some changes to announce within the Judges team as well, with Jules May stepping down as Judge Liaison Officer and Frank Schallmoser taking on the interim role of JLO. Thank you to Jules for your time and efforts as JLO and a warm welcome to Frank. We look forward to supporting you in the role and sharing your gummy bears.
