ActiveEveryday - Tips and Advice from Robyn

22 Jan 2025

As you may know, we're kicking off our 2025 theme content with our January theme 'Be active everyday' - encouraging sport and physical activity into everyone's daily routines.

This could be encouraging your others to make small changes like walking with friends to training/sessions, making healthier choices, setting goals and encouraging activities that can help improve people's physical and mental health.

We spoke to current Pathway Squad athlete Robyn Geddes who gave us some great tips and advice on how to get active and into archery, check out below:

1.            Why archery?

''I love being able to turn up to a training session and be completely in control of what I want to do, how many arrows, which round etc. i love the freedom of just turning up to the field with no goal other than just shooting whatever round I want.''

2.            What health benefits do you experience from being active and participating in archery?

''I find archery gave me an interest in sport and performance overall, which led to me trying out the gym, other sports etc and this led to me having a much more active life in general.''

3.            Are there are any other ways you like to stay active?

‘'I love playing netball, as a member of my local league team (Go Dragons!)''

4.            Do you have any particular goals to become more active?

''My goal for 2025 is to start swimming and get over my fear of going to the pool!''

5.            Any advice for getting active and involved in Archery?

''I would say don’t be afraid to throw yourself into what your club offers! Join a postal league, enter a competition, challenge a clubmate to a game of tick-tack-bow - anything goes!''
