Scottish Archery has secured an additional £153,613 to support the growth and development of archery across Scotland over the next two years.
For the first time, Scottish Archery will receive dedicated funding for the Performance pathway — a historic step that will help professionalise the programme and support archers targeting Scottish selection. With archery potentially included in the 2030 Commonwealth Games for the first time in 20 years, this funding will provide a consistent programme for archers hoping to reach the pinnacle in Scottish representation.
Scottish Archery has secured £34,000 for this year and the same amount for 2027/28, with the aim of making this support part of the annual investment agreement with sportscotland. The funding will enable the recruitment of a paid Head Coach and support regular squad days throughout the year, building on the dedication and expertise of the volunteers who have supported the pathway to date. Recruitment will go live for a Head Coach over the next few weeks.
A further £24,000 has been secured through the Summer of Sport fund to enhance participation and connect new archers with existing or newly created clubs. These funds will support four Ready, Steady, Shoot launch festivals across Scotland, helping new participants take their first steps into the sport and join local clubs.
In addition, Scottish Archery has assisted Mull and Iona Archers and Wee County Archers with their successful applications to the Club Support Programme (CSP). Collectively, the clubs have received £61,613 over three years to hire a staff member dedicated to growth, infrastructure, and enhancing local capacity.
A final application will be presented to the Growth and Innovation Fund to back opportunities for junior events, transition days, and competitions.
