We recently caught up with Nathan Macqueen following his silver medal at the World Championships.
SA - What was your goal ahead of the World Champs?
NM - My goals were to win a quota spot for GB (at Paris 2024) and finish top 5.
SA - Talk us through your preparation in the weeks leading up to the event
NM - My prep for the World's wasn't really any different to any other comp, I just practice a lot of matches. The big difference was my nutrition, I feel like I really nailed it for the World's making sure I fueled properly for the long days.
SA - What is your process on the shooting line?
NM - On the shooting line I like keeping it simple and have a laugh. I focus for the 4 mins each end but then think about anything else other than archery. I find if I'm thinking about it too much it's too mentally draining.
SA - What does winning a medal mean to you?
NM - Winning the silver means the world to me. Obviously I wanted gold but to make my first World Champs podium in unreal and really encouraging for next year.
SA - What's next on the schedule?
NM - Next on the schedule is the Europeans. Really looking forward going into it relaxed as I've already won a quota place so I can focus on being the best version of myself.
Thanks to Nathan for taking the time to catch up with us. Congratulations on the silver medal, best of luck at the Europeans and we have everything crossed for you as you head towards Paris 2024.
