Competition Update: Results, Postal League & Silver Arrow

11 Apr 2025

With the outdoor season underway, archers have been competing up and down the country with lots more opportunities coming up.

Firstly, results from the Moray Archery Frostbite held on 23 March have been uploaded to the Events page.  This was an informal fun shoot, where the focus is on bettering the elements, rather than fellow archers – open to novice and experienced archers.  View the results here.

Also the Postal League for 2024/25 has now concluded.  Thank you to you all for participating in this year's Postal League. This has been the best subscribed year yet with 11 clubs supplying 39 teams over all 4 bow types used in the league!

As always, we will take a break for the summer and the league will once again start in the winter from September I'm happy to receive any suggestions on how to improve the league so please feel free to reach out.

The results for March and the Overall Results have been uploaded to the Events pages of the website (31 March), click here.

James Ross will be in touch with the winning club as well as the clubs with the top scoring archers to arrange the prices.

Last weekend, University of St Andrew’s Archery Club (USTA) hosted their 407th Silver Arrow competition – the oldest competition in Scotland!

The club shared their reflections from the weekend on Instagram:

‘‘It’s well known that we host the oldest archery competition in Scotland, and we had the most amazing time! Our outgoing president was joined by our outgoing competitions officer and co; they did a fantastic job planning and running this event.

Lots of our archers competed despite spending the previous afternoon shifting bosses! Huge congratulations to Beth, Fred and Bridey on their gold medals, Edward for his bronze and Josephine for a new UK record! We could not be prouder of our team for both their performances and their hard work to make this event happen. Here’s to next year!’’

President of USTA, Kelsey Hunt added:

‘‘The event was well attended, and a couple records were broken as well! Josephine Stewart broke the UK St George Women's Compound record, Frank Hynds snagged another UK record for the St George, and Gillian Imrie will also be able to claim a Scottish Record for her Albion score.’’

Just a reminder that there are a couple of competitions coming up with entries open.  This includes  West of Scotland Outdoor Championships WA900 championship round returns on Saturday 31st May 2025, with hosts Kilmarnock Barebow Archers. Kilmarnock are also hosting a WA60,50 and metrics event on the Sunday 1st June, so is sure to be a great archery filled weekend, not to be missed!

Links to entry form and prospectus here.

Finally, information and entry forms for the Bannockburn Bowmen Clout Weekend to be held on 21 and 22 June 2025 have been uploaded to the Events pages.

Of course, a big thank you to all the volunteers that organised and delivered these events and looking forward to future competitions.

Lastly, best of luck to all the student archers who are competing this weekend at the Scottish Student Sport (SSS) Outdoor Championships and Head-to-Heads at Edinburgh University Archery Club's Peffermill Playing Fields.
