Competition Update: SDS National, Student League and More

29 Jan 2024

SDS National Indoors Success, Student League Campaign resumes and competitions coming up across the country

The Scottish Disability Sport (SDS) National Indoor Archery Championships took place on Sunday 3rd December 2023 at Perth High School.  Huge thanks also to Ian, Sue and their wonderful team at Perth Archery Club for looking after us all throughout the day and to Allan Winter for his ongoing support in the planning of this event.  You can read the full report here.

This month, the Scottish Student Sport (SSS) league campaign started back with League Event 4 taking place on 27th January at Heriot Watt University.  Well done to all the competitors and some very close scores.  Erin Ann Dobbin, the SSS Archery Chair stated when reflecting on the day: ‘‘It was amazing to see so many archers turn up for the first competition of 2024. We’ve had great representation across all bowstyles, and great to see so many novices trying out competitions for the first time’’

Soon the West of Scotland Indoor Championships returns on 3rd & 4th February 2024 at sportscotland's National Sports Training Centre Inverclyde in Largs.  The WoSAA are also organising a Nerves of Steel competition on the Saturday evening which will help fundraise for their U21's.  On the same weekend, Glenlivet Frost-Bite 2024 a longstanding shoot for Barebow and Longbow archers will be hosted this year by Moray Archery on 4th February.  An informal fun shoot; where the focus is on bettering the elements, rather than fellow archers. Novice and experienced archers are equally welcome.

On 18th February, the Lochside Bowmen 12th Open Worcester SRS will take place at Forfar Community Campus.  If you want more information or are keen to enter click here - please note the closing date is 8th February.

Also entries are still open for the Bannockburn Bowmen Open Double and Single Portsmouth which will take place on 24th February at Lornshill Academy Sports Complex, Alloa in Clackmannanshire often known as the Wee County!
