We will be introducing you to our many wonderful subgroup volunteers over the next few weeks. Jamila joined our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) subgroup in December last year, and has already started supporting with how we measure the impact of our programmes and create new opportunities.
Jamila shared her thoughts on being part of the EDI subgroup:
“I am honoured to be part of Scottish Archery's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion group, reinforcing my commitment to fostering inclusivity within the sport.
Through my work in sport, I remain committed in ensuring archery is accessible to all and bridging the gaps in participation and representation. I am excited to help drive Scottish Archery's journey towards a future that ensures everyone has the chance to excel in the sport.”
The purpose of the equality subgroup is to help Scottish Archery by making suggested recommendations that can feed into the equality action plan. The subgroup structure offers a support and governance framework to the key volunteers allowing them to have a stronger focus on the items within their plan.
Outcomes – The outcomes that the equality subgroup will help to deliver are:
Assist and help review the data summary
Form recommendations to the board that can feed into the equality action plan
Assist with shaping the annual equality survey
Assist with monitoring progress against the equality action plan
Help to promote a positive equality message
