Dave Revell was one of a small group of archers who met and proposed setting up a club in Banff 8 years ago, which resulted in the Deveron Archers club. He was at the club from day one, offering advice to new and inexperienced archers as well as shooting his own bow. After about a year, he was voted in as the clubs new chairperson, a position he held until his passing.
He would set up days out with the club, allowing anybody to come and try archery. These days took place in several locations including Banff Rugby club, Banff Castle, Banff Academy and Greenmyres Croft near Huntly. Along with Dennis Irvine, he helped set up archery facilities and instruction at Greenwood Loch holiday park, a few miles east of Macduff.
Â
In his years at Deveron Archers, he was always free with advice and up for a chat and laugh with members. He even brought in a set of Christmas themed targets that he had made and painted himself!!
Â
He was an inspiration to many. His openly cheerful attitude and friendliness will be sorely missed. While the club will soon have to find someone to take over his role as chairman, he can never be replaced.
We would like to pass on our condolences to Dave’s family.
