There's less than a week to go to apply to be our new National Coach. If you would like to help shape the pathway and performance programme, developing and supporting our archers, we would love to hear from you.
The primary purpose of the National Coach is to lead and manage the development and performance of athletes within the National Squad structure, ensuring connectivity, co-ordination and support across different environments within the pathway, working with clubs and areas. This includes delivering high-level technical coaching, overseeing the integration of sports science and performance planning, and prioritising athlete welfare.
The National Coach will lead the development, training and performance enhancement of the National Scottish Squad environment; design and implement effective training programmes; provide tactical and technical guidance; and support athletes to achieve their full potential in national and international competitions. The role requires a thorough understanding of Archery GB and World Archery Rules of Shooting, particularly in relation to international team events.
The post will also strengthen the wider pathway into performance by mentoring coaches, providing guidance and frameworks for club and area coaches, raising standards across the athlete development pipeline, and helping identify and develop emerging talent from grassroots to elite level.
