This weekend past saw the Tour Stage 2 being held at Ayr by kind permission of Ayr Archery Club. The weekend followed the sad news of the passing of Colin Downie who had been involved with the club for many years. As a mark of respect we held a one minute silence at assembly on day 1. Thank you Colin, for all you have done in the past years within the archery community.
Saturday was the Compound and Barebow day and they definitely had the brunt of the poorer weather. It was a day of showers, dry spells but that wind was gusty! There was still a good buzz about the place though with archers taking on personal challenges to gain scores for the Tour finals being held later in the year at Glamis castle. As always, there was a great mixture of target,field and archers from south of the border.
Congratulations to James Ross (Compound Open), Robyn Geddes (Compound Women), Craig Burns (Barebow Open) and Carol-Ann Seez (Barebow Women) who all won their divisions.
A special thank you to Judith Hawker for helping out with teas and coffees when I had to be in two places at the same time!
Also, on Saturday Megan Ross ws sitting her County assessment and am pleased to say passed this and is now a fully fledged County Judge. Well done, Megan!
Sunday was the turn of the Recurves and Longbow archers. Whilst it remained dry throughout the day, the wind was stronger but more consistent. Again,we welcomed archers from all over the the country which shows how the archery in Scotland is growing.
Thank you to Nessa Dunsmore who also helped out with teas and coffes on the second day.

These weekends cannot run without the help and support of Volunteers. The clubs and their field parties, the archers’ families (who run errands if I run short on supplies), Malcolm Alexander who gives up his weekends to help run the days competitions and never complains and to Curtis Hirst who does so much work behind the scenes in the run up to the event and on the day.
It is because of you all that our events run as well as they do and my thanks go out to you all
