Scottish Archery would like to announce that our National Development Manager, Jonny Roy, will be leaving Scottish Archery early in August to pursue an exciting new opportunity with Live Argyll.
During Jonny’s time with Scottish Archery, he has made a significant contribution to the development of archery. By supporting the enhancement of the Events and Competitions Programme alongside Fiona, our events programme has progressed leaps and bounds. The excellent teamwork with Jonny and Fiona was once again demonstrated by increasing the number of judges we have in Scotland. This was achieved by strengthening the support network and providing the first ever Scottish Judge Training opportunity, which took place in Falkirk last year. Jonny has also supported the areas through the area subgroup and has progressed our overall strategic ambitions across Scotland.
Most recently Jonny has been instrumental in securing the first ever performance investment into archery from sportscotland, what a legacy! The investment will allow us to professionalise the performance programme over the next year and beyond and support our archers to achieve their ambitions.
Jonny’s work has also included supporting the development of our new national participation programme, Ready, Steady, Shoot, alongside Robert and Euan, and developing a network of volunteers to enhance archery through our subgroup structures. A huge effort has gone into strengthening the pathway and relationship with Archery GB to enhance the environment for our Scottish Archers and workforce.
On behalf of everyone at Scottish Archery, we would like to extend our sincere thanks for Jonny’s hard work, professionalism, commitment, and ability to build positive relationships. We will miss having him as part of the team.
While we are naturally sad to see Jonny depart, we are excited for his next chapter in sport and wish him every success in the new role.
We will shortly begin the recruitment process for a National Development Manager and look forward to welcoming a new member to the team to help continue the growth and development of archery in Scotland.
