After the release of the Archery GB Transgender Archers Participation Guidance Policy in August, Scottish Archery started reviewing the contents to create a tailored version. To prioritise fairness, part of this process involved a consultation session with a group of archers who might be impacted by the policy changes. The session was constructive and offered various perspectives for consideration.
Archery GB has since published an updated version titled ‘Guidance for the Participation of Transgender Archers Policy’, available on the Scottish Archery website. This policy is significantly improved, providing more detail and fairness in its application. The Scottish Archery board has agreed to adopt this policy while also working on a Scottish Archery version that includes more detailed guidance for clubs. This allows time to ensure the Scottish Archery policy is well-suited for its members.
All competitions at Scottish Record and Scottish Ranking Event level will be organised following the guidance from the aforementioned policy. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Lyndsay Noon, Scottish Archery CEO, at lyndsay.noon@scottisharchery.org.uk
